Founder story
From one handwritten note to a movement.
The Care Initiative began the way most quiet, important things do — with a single person paying attention. After spending hours in hospital waiting rooms with a loved one going through chemotherapy, our founder noticed the in-between moments: the long silences, the empty bedside tables, the patients who didn't have a visitor that day.
She started small. A handwritten note. A pair of warm socks. A puzzle book. A bag dropped off at the nurses' station with a quiet ask: please give this to someone who needs it.
Friends asked how they could help. Then classmates. What began as one person showing up has grown into a student-led community packing and delivering comfort to patients — one box, and one handwritten note, at a time.
